Climber

Climber is a jump-and-run game, originally written for MS DOS in 1990. It will still run on all versions of Microsoft Windows. Climber is distributed as freeware; meaning you can use and distribute it freely, provided you are not charging anything for it.

Setup:

1. Download and run the setup file: climber_setup.exe
2. This will copy all files necessary and create the shortcuts.

(thanks to Nullsoft http://www.nullsoft.com for creating the NSIS Installation System which is really flexible and easy-to-use)

Brief Game Description

The game's objective is simple: Collect all the keys, avoid all the enemies, hurry onto the red door, and up to the next level!

IMPORTANT NOTE: You have to use the arrow keys on the keyboard's NUMERIC BLOCK (RIGHT SIDE)!!

Keyboard mapping:
  • Arrow Keys - Movement
  • Space - Jump
  • Esc - Pause
  • F2 - Toggle Sound
  • Q - Quit
  • Any other key - Stop movement

Harmful objects: Other objects:
  • Barrell
  • Anti-Barrell
  • Magic Scissor
  • Jumping Ball
  • Walking Tree - will NOT harm you, but will block you (this can be useful, too)
  • Magic carpet - used to "fly" over gap
  • Bridge - can be walked only ONCE.
  • Potion - by collecting 3 of them you'll receive an extra life
  • Time - some extra units of time
  • Other goodies - Just extra score

There are 100 built-in-levels. You will get an access password after each level.

You also can create your own levels, using the integrated level editor. Just select "Level Editor" in the main menu. If you want, send me the levels you created. Eventually I will publish them here.

So have a nice time. If you like the game or have any comments, drop me a note!
